Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has laid today the foundation of a traffic interchange on the site of the demolished residential quarters of former Sovetskaya Street in Baku.
The demolition of quarters of dilapidated housing adjacent to Nariman Narimanov Avenue (former Sovetskaya Street) was envisaged by all of the Master Plans of Baku over the last 40 years, but the demolition was launched only a couple of years ago.
The new road infrastructure is expected to improve access to central mosque Teze Pir and transport links in the historic centre of Baku.
